We have to do better

Our use of disposable plastic is symptomatic of a lifestyle of convenience and consumption for consumption’s sake. The bigger challenge is to remind ourselves what is most important in life, to distinguish between wants and needs; separate the things that really matter, that provide health and safety, vs those things that provide a fleeting dopamine hit, but slowly steal our health, happiness and future.

Reducing your disposable plastic consumption is much easier than you think - and once you start shifting your mindset it becomes easier and easier to leave behind the things that make your life worse.

It wasn’t always like this

Plastic is a fairly recent invention. Has it really improved our lives? Convenience separates people, it steals our humanity. The kind of convenience we have been sold on, is an invention of the capitalist, for-profit, exploitative businesses who need us to keep consuming the products they sell, even if they add no value to our lives, or make our lives worse.

There are still places on earth where people transact with people, with fairness and reciprocity as their guiding principles.
